A Handful of Nuts a Day May Help You Live Longer!

A recent study published in the New England Journal of Medicine suggests people who eat nuts have a lower risk of death compared to people who never eat them. While nuts have long been associated with reduced risk of cardio-vascular disease and type 2 diabetes, among other chronic illnesses, my concern has always been with the amount of fat associated with eating nuts. But this study clearly shows that nuts are a nutrient dense food and people who eat nuts are likely eating them instead of other foods, perhaps processed snack foods – apt to be far less nutritious. So go ahead, put some in your vehicle, your gym bag, and eat away.
