Fiber. To Take or Not to Take. That is the Question.

If I said to you, “eat more fiber and potentially live a longer, healthier life,” what would your response be? Would you say, “fiber is full of carbs and is going to create weight gain?” Believe it or not, fiber can help you lose weight, is found in many delicious foods, and can help you avoid common diseases. This article summarizes a recent American Journal of Medicine study, and vividly shows that most Americans don’t get enough fiber. It also provides guidelines on how much fiber you should consume daily and mentions the types of foods that are filled with fiber.

An earlier study conducted by the National Institutes of Health, found that a diet high in fiber reduced fatalities from heart disease, respiratory illness, or infectious diseases by 56% in men and 59% in women.

In addition to my multi-vitamin (and other supplements), I personally take Herbalife’s Garden7 every day to ensure that I get the proper amounts of fruits and vegetables.

Bottom line, eat more fiber.

A Handful of Nuts a Day May Help You Live Longer!

A recent study published in the New England Journal of Medicine suggests people who eat nuts have a lower risk of death compared to people who never eat them. While nuts have long been associated with reduced risk of cardio-vascular disease and type 2 diabetes, among other chronic illnesses, my concern has always been with the amount of fat associated with eating nuts. But this study clearly shows that nuts are a nutrient dense food and people who eat nuts are likely eating them instead of other foods, perhaps processed snack foods – apt to be far less nutritious. So go ahead, put some in your vehicle, your gym bag, and eat away. Snack on nuts when you are tempted with the more traditional treats associated with this holiday season, and keep Herbalife’s soy nuts and other healthy snack foods handy for those inevitable cravings.

Ten Reasons to Take Vitamin Supplements

Back in my early 20’s and still in the United States Marine Corp, I did research on vitamins and their benefits. Since then, I never missed a day, well maybe just a few. I prioritized the importance of taking, at a minimum, a good, 100% pharmaceutical grade multivitamin and omega 3 which has tons of benefits. Do you remember at the beginning of the year, what is probably the number one new year’s resolution? I want to lose weight, eat healthier, and feel better. I know I’ve set this goal for myself many times, only to see it fall the minute I’m faced with serious temptations.
